Google Nest Protect monitors your home for the first sign of fire or carbon monoxide. It tells you what and where the danger is as soon as it’s detected. And it doesn’t matter if you’re not in, as it sends an alert straight to your phone. (You'll need working internet and WiFi to receive alerts)
Nest Protect gives you the kind of peace of mind that you just don’t get from a traditional smoke alarm. It tests itself more than 400 times a day. It glows green when you turn off the lights to show you everything’s working. And you can get a quick status update at any time in the Nest app.
Then there are the helpful features that will make you ever wonder how you lived without the Nest Protect. Like the alert on your phone to warn you the batteries are running low. Instead of incessant beeping at 4am. The friendly warning that the alarm is about to sound. So you can silence it quick before it wakes the baby. And the gentle glow it gives when you walk past, so you can see your way to the bathroom in the dark.
Nest Protect is easy to install. All you need is your WiFi, a phone and a handy Philips screwdriver.

Protect your home from danger
There’s no guesswork with Nest Protect. It tells you what and where the danger is so you can respond immediately – whether that’s to burnt toast or a real emergency. It has a split-spectrum sensor which looks for both fast and slow-burning fires. And a carbon monoxide sensor, so it can detect this poisonous gas, which you can’t see or smell.
It's your safety, don't settle for less
How many of us can honestly say we test our smoke alarms every month? Sometimes life gets in the way of our best intentions. Which is why Nest Protect does the legwork for you. It quietly tests its batteries and sensors more than 400 times a day. It reminds you when the batteries are running low with a yellow glow and phone alert. And it gives you a friendly warning before it sounds the alarm. So you can silence it with your phone if it’s not a real emergency. (Mobile alerts require working internet and WiFi)
It works with other Nest products
When something's wrong, all your Nest Protects speak up at the same time to tell you what and where the danger is. If it detects a carbon monoxide leak, it’ll send a message to your Nest Thermostat to shut off the gas. And if you have a Nest camera, it’ll automatically turn on and start streaming video. And record an emergency clip, even if you don’t have a Nest Aware subscription. It makes your home smarter – without you having to do anything. Note: Emergency clip recording is OFF by default. To turn it on, go to, Protect> Settings> Works with Protect.
