Worried you left the iron on at home? Or that you've had to leave the games console plugged in, as the socket's too tricky to reach? With the TP-Link HS100 Smart Plug you can turn appliances on or off, from wherever you are. It doesn’t matter that you’re not at home - or that you can't reach behind the sofa. Just log into the Kasa app and flick the switch remotely.
But this smart plug doesn’t just turn appliances on and off… You can set schedules to control your appliances. Use the timer function to limit how long an appliance is on for. Or switch to the ‘away’ mode when you’re on holiday, to make it look like somebody’s in – even when your home is empty.
You don’t need to rewire the house or change your power sockets to use the TP-Link Smart Plug. Simply plug it in, connect to your Wi-Fi network, and you’re ready to go.

Smart plugs give you peace of mind and convenience – here’s how to make the most of their features
A remote control for your appliances
Return home in the evening to the lights already on or the slow cooker warming up your dinner. Use the app to create schedules and control your appliances. Set a timer to turn the heated airer off after an hour. Schedule the hall lamp to switch off at bedtime. Or log in at any time to check whether your family have left any devices plugged in.
Peace of mind when you’re not home
Switch on the ‘away’ mode when you’re on holiday, for added security. This programmes your appliances to turn on randomly throughout the day. So it looks like you’re at home, even when you’re not. There’s also a handy countdown timer. So you can put a time limit on how long the electric heater is switched on – for extra reassurance.
Easy to set-up and manage
The smart plug works on your home’s Wi-Fi network, and it’s ready to go as soon as it’s connected. Control appliances using the Kasa app or go hands-free when you’re in the home using a voice-activated device, like the Amazon Echo or Google Home instead. Connect one or several plugs around the home for different appliances – and manage them all through the app.
You don’t need to call out an electrician or change your plug sockets to get started
1.Download the Kasa for Mobile app. Press ‘Add device’ and select the ‘Smart Plug’;
2.Plug the socket into a wall outlet and wait about 15 seconds until the WiFi indicator blinks amber and green;
3.Once the app has found your plug on the network, you can give it a name and icon to make it more recognisable. You’ll then be prompted for your WiFi details to finish set-up and connect the smart plug to your network.

“Alexa, turn off the iron”
Use your voice or the touchscreen to control appliances around the home with the Amazon Echo Show 8. Left the fan on? Ask Alexa to turn it off – no need to run upstairs or find your phone. The Echo connects to other smart home appliances too. So you can manage your smart lighting, heating and security with your voice too. Simply ask Alexa to show you who’s at the front door. Or to turn up the thermostat. Or to dim the lights for your family movie night.
